4th MLMI International Symposium Successfully Concludes in Leros

Mediterranean Lifestyle for Health: Empowering Clinicians and Communities
10–13 June 2026 | Leros, Greece

The 4th International Symposium of the Mediterranean Lifestyle Medicine Institute was successfully held in Leros, Greece, from 10–13 June 2026, bringing together 45 participants from 18 countries. The Symposium once again reflected the international character of MLMI and its commitment to advancing Mediterranean Lifestyle Medicine through science, education, collaboration, and lived experience.

A defining feature of the meeting was its combination of a strong scientific program with experiential learning. Scientific presentations, keynote lectures, oral abstract presentations, working-group discussions, and updates from the Institute’s six lifestyle pillars were complemented by activities that allowed participants to experience the Mediterranean Lifestyle directly. These included physical activity, traditional food and culinary medicine, visits to an organic farm, interaction with the local community, outdoor activities, shared meals, and discussions held in the gardens and other informal settings throughout Leros.

Importantly, the Symposium represented the culmination of a full year of work by MLMI members. Throughout the year, members of the Institute worked within the six pillar groups and on research, educational, certification, and publication projects. During the Symposium, these groups presented the progress and results of their work, discussed future priorities, and developed plans for the coming year.

The meeting was highly successful in combining scientific exchange with collaboration, friendship, and direct experience of the Mediterranean way of life. It demonstrated the strength of MLMI as an active international community whose members work together throughout the year and come to Leros not simply to attend a conference, but to share their work, learn from one another, and experience the principles they seek to bring into clinical practice and communities around the world.
